This product was formulated to be used in the evening. The following are some reasons a person may wish to take this natural sleeping product:
In order to provide natural help from occasional sleepless nights. Good Night Rx is not as powerful as pharmaceutical sleeping pills, but it can help you relax and provide a deeper sleep than you would otherwise. Good Night Rx is not formulated for those who have chronic insomnia and are hooked on pharmaceutical sleeping pills. Underlying causes of insomnia should be addressed.
To reduce stress and frustration. If you have had a difficult day at work or due to an emotional matter, Good Night Rx can be taken in the evening to help occasional simple nervous tension or nervousness due to common every day overwork and fatigue. Good night Rx can provide a relaxed feeling to help you calm down and gently soothe away tension, helping you partially or mostly resolve that irritability that ruins your day.
Good Night Rx works best when taken at least 2 to 4 hours before bed on an empty stomach. You may consider eating a carbohydrate meal, such as pasta, a half hour after taking this product. The combination of this herbal sleeping pill and a carbohydrate meal should help you sleep deep. We also suggest you get plenty of light exposure during the day, particularly in the morning consisting of a 20 minute or half hour walk when you wake up. Morning light exposure can help you sleep deeper.

Q. I would like to know the amount of each ingredient in
Good Night RX, specifically 5-HTP.
A. The FDA allows companies not to reveal the exact amounts as a
way of trademark and patent protection, otherwise other companies can copy a
successful formula. It is a proprietary blend, hence we are not in a
position to reveal this.

Good Night Rx side effects
Thus far we have not had reports of nightmares, memory problems, or grogginess

difficulty with maintaining a strong erection the morning after using Good Night
Rx, and this resolves itself by the afternoon or evening.
Qquestions and emails
Q. When is the
best time to take Good Night Rx?
A. Each person is different, but a range of 30 minutes
to 4 hours before sleep, most often 1 to 3 hours before sleep is acceptable for
many people.
Q. I would like
to take your Good Night Rx and am trying to find out what herbs are in it
besides 5HTP. I need to know because valerian root energizes me and I have to
avoid it at all costs if it is in a sleeping aid (and unfortunately for me it is
usually in most sleeping aids.
A. The amount of valerian in Good Night Rx is not high, the other
herbs and nutrients are in higher potencies.
Q. Can I take
Good Night Rx with a pharmaceutical sleeping pill?
A. We discourage the use of Good Night Rx the same
night as a drug.
Q. Can I take 2
capsules of Good Night Rx at one time?
A. Only if you have previously tried one capsule and
you feel you needed a higher dose and your doctor approves.
Q. Can I take a
second capsule of Good Night Rx after I have taken one capsule?
A. Some people benefit from taking a second capsule of
Good Night Rx 2 or 3 hours after taking the first one.

testimonials
Q. I was skeptical about trying Good Night Rx, and my first night that I
took it it did not seem to work well. So I emailed Physician Formulas and
they asked if I had taken it with a meal or on an empty stomach. I had
actually taken it right after dinner. So the next night I took it an hour
before bed and about 2 to 3 hours after dinner. It worked so well. Within
a half hour I could tell feeling relaxed and shortly thereafter I yawned.
I did not have any side effects except maybe a slightly more vivid dream,
and woke up quite refreshed and in a good mood.
A. The effectiveness of certain supplements has a lot to do whether
they are taken with food or on an empty stomach. Each supplement is
different on how it should be taken, but, as a general rule, if you wish
to feel a mental or physical effect from a supplement, take it on an empty
stomach. If you are just taking a supplement for health reasons, such as
an antioxidant, for instance curcumin or vitamin E, take it with food. We
have had good feedback with Good Night Rx. Most people really like the
sleep inducing effect, but we do suggest to just using it 2 or 3 times a
week. People who seem not to notice the sleep inducing effects as much, at
least initially, are those who happen to be addicted or habituated to
potent pharmaceutical sleep drugs.
A natural way to have a Good
Night
If you’re having trouble getting to sleep, don’t ask your doctor to pull
out her prescription pad just yet. Prescription sleep drugs are often
effective, but can have many side effects. These can include memory loss,
decrease in sexual desire, and morning grogginess leading to car
accidents. Instead, you might consider taking sleep-inducing herbs and
supplements. Supplements and herbs are safer than sleep drugs. The bad
news: they are neither as consistently effective nor as potent as
pharmaceutical sleep medicines. The good news: when you combine certain
herbs and nutrients, most people see good results. Good Night Rx is one
supplement you might consider to help you sleep. (Please note that dosage
and timing can vary significantly among people.) Good Night Rx is a
combination of 5-HTP, melatonin, GABA, taurine, kava, valerian, hops,
chamomile, and several other herbs. This formula took years of trial and
error to develop - and thus far feedback has been quite positive. An hour
to 3 hours before bed, you would take one capsule on an empty stomach.
When taken with or after a meal, this supplement will not work as well.
Wait at least half an hour after taking Good Night Rx if you plan to have
a late night snack. Some people say that they notice the sleep inducing
effects even better the second or third night of use. Good Night Rx is
more effective than any individual herb or nutrient. Our feedback thus far
has an 80 percent satisfaction rate which is quite high for an herbal
product.
Q. I am currently taking low doses of SAM-e (50 –
100 mg daily) and can find nothing about interaction with products that
all contain 5HTP (i.e Diet Rx, Mind Power Rx, Good Night Rx). Also, it is
hard to determine if it is relatively safe to try these products when the
amount of 5-HTP in each is proprietary.
A. Mind Power Rx does not have 5-HTP. It is best to learn how each
supplement works by itself before combining. For instance, if someone were
to take Diet Rx the first few days, we suggest not combining it with SAM-e
or other supplements. Same with Good Night Rx. 5-HTP is not the only
ingredient that can potentially interact with SAM-e supplements. The
amount of 5-HTP in Diet Rx and Good Night Rx is small, but, as previously
said, there are many nutrients and herbs that need to be considered while
combining supplements. There are no easy answers, and the best option is
to first learn how each formula or supplement works by itself in your
particular case before mixing them.
Q. I read on your website that Gaba is very
unreliable because it does not easily cross the blood brain barrier. Why
then is it in Goodnight RX. Do other herbs in Goodnight RX help GABA
cross the blood brain barrier? My problem is that I can not sleep long
enough. I wake up at 4 or 4:30 and can not go back to sleep, no matter
what supplements I take. Would Goodnight Rx help me or do you have
something else to suggest?
A. There are more than a dozen ingredients in Good Night Rx that
work together to help with sleep. The majority of Good Night Rx users
find it to be very helpful but it has to be taken on an empty stomach at
least 2 to 4 hours before bed. If you eat late in the evening, consider
taking the Good Night Rx a half hour before your meal.
Q. When is the
best time to take Good Night Rx?
A. Each person is different, but a range of 30 minutes
to 4 hours before sleep, most often 1 to 3 hours before sleep is acceptable for
many people.
Q. Can I take
Good Night Rx with a pharmaceutical sleeping pill?
A. We discourage the use of this herbal sleep formula the same
night as a drug.
Q. Can I take 2
capsules of Good Night Rx at one time?
A. Only if you have previously tried one capsule and
you feel you needed a higher dose and your doctor approves.
Q. Can I take a
second capsule of Good Night Rx after I have taken one capsule?
A. Some people benefit from taking a second capsule of
2 or 3 hours after taking the first one.
Q. Can I take
Good Night Rx during the day if I feel stressed?
A. Only if you plan to stay at home and will not be
driving or operating heavy machinery for at least 6 to 8 hours.
Q. After about half an hour I realized I was yawning but I kept watching the Jay Leno show till midnight and then went to bed. I went to bed about an hour and fifteen minutes after taking a the capsule. I have had occasional bouts of sleeplessness due to work stress, and just one pill helped me get a great night sleep with no grogginess in the morning. I think I dreamt a little more, but I'm not sure. I had absolutely no side effects.
Q. What I really like about Good Night Rx is that I wake up the next morning refreshed and with no hangover. I actually feel energized the next day. I'm a 26 year old female with occasional stress induced sleeping problems.
Q. Good Night
Rx worked great for me 4 nights in a row with a deep, restful sleep and no
hangover, then on the fifth night, it didn't seem to help as much.
A. Tolerance could develop. We suggest using at most
every other night or maximum 3 nights a week.
Q. I noticed a
little deeper sleep the first time I took Good Night Rx. I didn't take it the
second or third night but I recall having deeper than usual sleep. Does Good
Night Rx have a delayed effect?
A. It may, we don't have enough feedback on this issue
yet to know for sure.
Q. Good Night Rx didn't work for me the first time I tried it. I emailed the manufacturer to get my money back and they suggested I try again on an empty stomach 1 to 3 hours before bed. It really worked when I took it on an empty stomach 2 hours before bed. They also suggested not to use more than 2 or 3 times a week.
Q. I had such a nice and deep sleep after taking my first dose of Good Night Rx. I woke up in the morning at 7:30, may usual time, and felt no hangover at all. Two nights later I took it again, but this time it did not seem to work as well. I realized I had taken the Good Night pill right after my dinner. A few nights later I tried the pill again, this time 2 hours before bed and on an empty stomach ( I ate a half hour after my pill), and it worked great again. I felt so relaxed when I went to bed and had a great night's sleep.
Q. I purchased
a bottle of GoodNight Rx for my husband who has a great deal of difficulty
getting more than 2-3 hours of sleep at night. However, he suffers from heart
fibrilation and is wary about taking medications or nutritional supplements
unless he knows they will not cause heart problems. Can you tell me if GoodNight
Rx will cause any problem with heart fibrillation?
A. There are many herbs that have the potential to
stimulate heart tissue and make it more likely for the heart to beat faster. We
cannot guarantee that Good Night Rx will be perfectly okay for those with heart
fibrillation. We have not tested it in those with heart arrhythmias. We have
only tested it in healthy volunteers. To be on the safe side, it may be best
that he avoid the use of this product if his heart is currently fibrillating.
Q. I currently
take lexapro for depression and glucotrol xl for diabetes. will these drugs
interact with Good Night Rx?
A. The Lexapro may interact, therefore we suggest
approval by your doctor before use. How Lexapro would interact with this product
in your particular case cannot be predicted. We have not tested this product in
those who take antidepressants, therefore we cannot predict interactions and
whether the lexapro may make Good Night Rx more difficult to be effective.
Q. I suffer
from insomnia and take Xanax and tylenol PM every night. I tried Good Night Rx
and it did not work for me.
A. Good Night Rx is meant for those with occasional
sleeplessness due to tension or stress, not those who have chronic insomnia, and
particularly not those who are used to taking sleep drugs every night. Just the
act of stopping a sleep drug one night could have a rebound effect causing
difficulty sleeping. Therefore, if the sleep drug is stopped and Good Night Rx
used, that very first night your sleep may actually be potentially worse since
you would be suffering from the rebound insomnia from lack of the sleep drug.
However, it is possible that after a few nights of trial with Good Night Rx, and
off the sleep medicine, sleep architecture could return. One could use initially
Good Night Rx 2 days on, one day off, and then every other night, and then less
frequently. The underlying causes of chronic insomnia must be addressed.
Q. Kindly let
me know if it is right to be taken Multi Vit Rx, Oregano and Good Night Rx at
the same time. Again after taken these herbal products, can one still take an
orthodox medicine for headache, pain reliever?
A. Please keep the MultiVit Rx to one capsule before or
with breakfast, maximum 5 days a week, if you take 2 caps it may cause mild
insomnia. Oregano oil is ok. Use Good Night Rx only maximum 3 nights a week, 1
to 3 hours before bed. As to the pain meds, you will need to ask your doctor.
Q. I've been
taking Restoril sleeping pill nightly for 3 years. I stopped one night and took
Good Night Rx but it didn't seem to help.
A. There is a term called rebound insomnia that occurs
when people stop their sleeping pills. The night they stop the sleep is much
worse than usual. It may take a few days or a few weeks being off the sleeping
pill to recover from this. In the meantime, it is difficult to say whether Good
Night Rx would be consistently helpful, but it is worth a try.
Q. Good Night Rx did not work for me the first night. I emailed Physician Formulas people, rather rudely i must say, and they suggested I try it again before making up my mind on this product. I tried Good Night last night and saw an improvement in sleep pattern. This is very encouraging. If this effect improves or even remains the same, I expect I will reorder when this bottle runs low. How's that for a complete reversal of attitude? I also plan to try Tryptophan.
Q. Can Good
Night Rx be taken with prescription blood pressure meds.? Will it affect sleep
apnea. I used to use a C-Pap machine and I started waking every 2 hrs. with dry
throat and mouth. This started about 3 months ago, and I'm still having trouble
sleeping through the night. I am also trying to come off xanax for about 5 weeks
now I have not had any xanax and took it for a short time, but my withdrawl
symptoms have been rough with rebound effects of anxiety and little sleep. Will
this help with my sleep problem and anxiety?
A. Most prescription blood pressure pills are taken in the morning,
and we don't have any indication that taking Good Night Rx in the evening would
interfere with this. We don't have feedback from those with sleep apnea who have
used Good Night Rx. This product does not work well initially in those who have
been using prescription anti-anxiety or sleeping pills on a nightly basis, but
since you have been off for a few weeks, then it would be appropriate to give
this product a try if your doctor approves. Good Night Rx could help with
occasional sleep problems and to reduce stress but we don't make any claims that
it can cure chronic insomnia or anxiety.

Q. Please let
me know what risks might attend my taking Good Night Rx every night, it helps my
sleep.
A. This is a new product, so we don't have long term experience
with it. Good Night Rx contains kava, melatonin, 5-htp, and many herbs. There is
a potential of habituation and tolerance although we don't know for sure. Kava
when used in high doses and daily has been associated in very rare cases with
liver harm, so we prefer to be extra cautious and prevent any potential problems
by limiting use to 3 times a week and a week off each month.
Q. Does Good Night Rx have any side effects if
continued for a longer period? Will it give any problems, if the intake is
stopped abruptly?
A. Good Night Rx should only be used 3 nights a week at most and
thus far we have not any problems with tolerance or rebound insomnia or any side
effects.
Q. You advise: Take one capsule of Good Night Rx one to
three hours before bedtime, preferably on an empty stomach. Good Night Rx does
not work as well when taken after a meal. I take dinner at 7PM and go to bed
after testing my sugar level at 9-20PM. With this habit I cannot take Goodnight
on an empty stomach one to three hours before bedtime. Can you suggest how I can
go on with this difficulty.
A. You could try the Good Night Rx 20 minutes or a half hour before
dinner. Sometimes even 4 hours before bed works quite well.
Q. Can I take Good Night Rx if I am taking a MAO
inhibitor, Parnate?
A. You ask a good question. There are many risks involved in
combining some supplements and MAO inhibitors. Since we have not done any
studies or do not have any feedback from users of Good Night Rx who are taking
MAO inhibitors, we have no idea of what kind of interaction there would be. To
be on the safe side we would not recommend the use of Good Night Rx if you are
on this medicine.
