Fibromyalgia is a chronic disease, often accompanied by depression and fatigue, in which a person feels pain in the muscles and tissues surrounding the joints. Nine in 10 fibromyalgia patients are female. While the cause of fibromyalgia is unknown, researchers have found pain-processing abnormalities in the spines and brain stems of some people with fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia research suggests that the condition is a diffuse problem of sensory volume control in which patients' thresholds are altered not just to pain, but to other stimuli such as heat, noise, and strong odors. Indeed, fibromyalgia frequently occurs with other syndromes that are also associated with hypersensitivity, such as irritable bowel syndrome, and TMG sndrome. Depression, stress, and poor sleeping habits aggravate fibromyalgia disease. For more research information, see fibromyalgia.
Treating
fibromylagia
Exercise is more effective in treating fibromyalgia than medication.
Food allergies. In one study, researchers reviewed medical charts of 17 fibromyalgia
patients who agreed to eliminate common foods from their diet such as corn, wheat, dairy,
citrus, soy and nuts. After 2 weeks without eating any of the potential food allergens,
nearly half of the patients reported "significant reduction of pain," and most
reported a reduction in other symptoms such as headache, fatigue, bloating, and breathing
difficulties. Two patients had an increase in symptoms.
After the food elimination phase of the study,
the patients were then instructed to reintroduce a particular food every 2 or 3 days and
monitor their reaction to the food. Some of the reactions to foods were pain, headache,
and gastrointestinal distress. The most common problem-causing foods or ingredients for
the patients in this study were corn, wheat, dairy, citrus and sugar.

Swimming, exercise and
fibromyalgia
Swimming can ease the debilitating pain of fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia mainly
effects women and can cause severe pain and tenderness in muscles, ligaments and
tendons. Shoulder and neck pain is common but some people with the condition
also have problems sleeping, and suffer anxiety and depression. Women who swim
regularly or are involved in physical activity are less prone to fibromyalgia
pain.
Fibromyalgia disease questions
Q. Do you have any information on lithium orotate that I can review? I need to
supplement for depression and fibromyalgia.
A. See this lithium
web page.
Q. Before bedtime, I take tizanidine (generic for
Xanaflex) for fibromyalgia. I have also begun taking Sam-e recently for
depression. Is there any contraindication here? My Dr. also just prescribed
5HTP. Is there any contraindication here?
A. There are no simple answers since much depends on the dosages
used and your individual response to pills. SAM-e is a potent medication and one
needs to read the side effects before use, this is also true for 5-HTP.

We don't think it would help much but we are not sure.
I was at my wits end with traditional MD’s and their prescriptions of narcotics to mask the problem as opposed to finding the root cause. As far as my back is concerned I go in every 4 months or so for nerve blocks and have good success. I had a blood analysis done at the Fibromyalgia and fatigue Center in Bellevue Washington. They drew 20 vials of blood. I have been clinically diagnosed with Idiopathic Peripheral Neuropathy, Fibromyalgia, as well as L4, L5 and S1 nerve facet damage, lumbar stenosis, disk degenerative disease and arthorsis. At the above mentioned clinic it was determined that my thyroid grand was 300% inefficient, no measurable amount of Serotonin in my blood and my adrenal gland was insufficient a well. I went to the local health food store and after explain what I have just said they sold me 500 mg Tryptophan, distributed by “your health Inc.” ADRENergizer and Metabolic advantage. I have been on these for 6 weeks now and the results are amazing. More energy, sleep like a baby most nights, better memory and overall “just feel Better’ I will say these supplements are very expensive indeed. There marketing is good as if you take it as recommended you cannot buy a bottle for a month’s supply, very frustrating. The dosages recommended are as follows; L-Tryptophan Qty 60 a 20 day supply, dosage 3 x daily, Metabolic Advantage Qty 100 a 16 day supply, dosage 2 capsules 3 x daily, ADRENergizer Qty 50 a 16 day supply, dosage 3 x daily. They claim to be pharmaceutical grade. When I visited your website reading the L-tryptophan the daily dosage was fewer and I really like the fact of your claim to exceed be pharmaceutical grade. However I could not find a supplement designed to work on increasing the efficiency of both my thyroid and adrenal gland. I am very serious about my pursuit of treating the problem as to masking it with pain medication. I am interested in high quality, no fillers or other junk thrown in. the Fibromyalgia & fatigue Center in Bellevue Washington has all of their supplements made to pharmaceutical grade. The problem with them is their fee is $6,000 per year do not accept medical insurance and must be paid in advance so I must find what they have or a close as possible. I am under major mental stress and this is the reason my body is shutting down. I eat the proper foods, only drink filtered water and such. I am disabled and have a very limited income so I search for quality product reasonably priced and to buy online figuring the lower operating cost of not having brick and mortar store and such that it makes sense somewhere I can find all this from one source. I currently have one month’s supply of the above supplements. When they are gone then I will go back to my MD to find out what my serotonin levels are as well as my T-3 and reverse T-3 levels are at compared to the previous blood work. I want the results for paper reasons, as I personally know how much better I feel.
