7-keto DHEA study, 7-keto benefits
7-keto DHEA is a hormone similar to
DHEA. Proponents claim that 7-Keto DHEA cannot
be metabolized to active androgenic or estrogenic hormones but retains and enhances the
immunologic, memory-enhancing and thermogenic effects of DHEA. 7 keto DHEA has
been promoted for weight loss, however, even if it does so, using hormones for
weight loss is not the best solution since there are bound to be long term
hormone side effects that would make some people regret they used 7 keto DHEA
for this purpose.
DHEA has sexual enhancement
properties. We do not know if
7-keto DHEA has the same effect.
A
combination of hoodia,
ginger, cinnamon, green tea extract, spirulina, acetylcarnitine, choline, guggul, and several
other herbs and nutrients, as found in
Diet Rx, a very effective
herbal diet pill for weight
loss. Users of Diet Rx have lost several pounds within a week or two. Diet Rx
does not have 7-keto-dhea.

7-Keto DHEA Summary
As of March 2006, no human studies of any significance have been published on
Medline regarding 7-keto DHEA. Therefore, no recommendations can be made at this time.
7 keto dhea is promote for weight loss, but I think safer alternatives are
available.

Patients with Raynaud's phenomenon have abnormal digital vasoconstriction in
response to cold. The pathogenesis remains unknown but may involve a local
neurovascular defect leading to vasoconstriction. Diagnosis of primary Raynaud's
phenomenon is based on typical symptomatology coupled with normal physical
examination, normal laboratory studies and lack of observable pathology by nail
fold capillaroscopy. Secondary Raynaud's phenomenon is known to occur associated
with several connective tissue diseases, vascular injury due to repeated
vibrational trauma, and other causes which produce demonstrable vascular and
microcirculatory damage. Treatment of Raynaud's symptoms is conservative and
aimed at prevention of attacks. Patients are advised to remain warm and, if
possible, to live in warm climates. We suggest that an ergogenic (thermogenic)
steroid, 7-oxo-DHEA (3-acetoxyandrost-5-ene-7,17-dione), which is available
without prescription as the trademarked 7-keto DHEA, may be very helpful in
prevention of primary Raynaud's attacks by increasing the basal metabolic rate
and inhibiting vasospasm.

7-keot dhea questions
Q. I am 44 years old and have low (bottom of normal range) testosterone
levels, with very low DHEA levels. My doctor's suggested I take a
supplement of oral DHEA. I've been reading the information on your site. I
understand you don't advise which supplements to take but hope you can
advise how each of the supplements, DHEA, 7-Keto DHEA and Pregnenolone
might impact my situation?
A. The whole person has to be treated, not an isolated blood test.
If there are no symptoms associated with the low normal testosterone
level, no hormone treatment should be started. There is not enough medical
research with 7-keto dhea, dhea, and pregnenolone to know which form or
dosage would be the best choice for long term hormone replacement.
Q. I came across a product for weight loss that
has 7-keto dhea 100 mg. Is this too much 7-keto-dhea?
A. Definitely. Any dose over 5 or 10 mg of 7 keto dhea is too high
for long term use.
